Beat The Annual Greeting Card Rush by Sending Thanksgiving Cards

Many business owners beat the traditional rush of sending holiday greeting cards by sending Thanksgiving cards instead. Since America celebrates this special occasion in November, Thanksgiving cards are unexpected greetings ideal for personal or business use. The occasion also serves to express your thanks for the year that is soon to come to an end.

You send your holiday greetings early when you send a Thanksgiving card, and by doing so, you come off to your clients as proactive and well-organized. People don’t always expect to receive a Thanksgiving card, so receiving one will be a pleasant surprise for them. Your unexpected thoughtful gesture is often appreciated.

Important Facts about Hanukkah

Hanukkah is an eight-day annual Jewish holiday, also called the Festival of Lights or the Festival of Re-Dedication of the Temple. The celebration begins on the 25th day of the Kislev from the Hebrew calendar, which may occur anytime between late November to early January of our Gregorian calendar.

The festival’s roots began in 175 BCE when the Syrian conquerors persecuted the Jews and desecrated their sacred temple, even building an altar to Zeus over it. In 165 BCE, a revolt led by the Jewish Priest Matthias and his five sons triumphed over the conquerors and drove them out of the Holy Land. Hanukkah commemorates the time when Matthias rededicated the temple to Jewish worship.

Hanukkah is celebrated by lighting a candle each day over a period of eight days. A special candelabrum called a Menorah is used to light a candle each night until the final night. In addition, traditional prayers and hymn singing are also important parts of the commemoration. Food tradition involves enjoying potato pancakes (latkes in yiddish) and jam-filled doughnuts, and other foods deep- fried in oil.

Sending out Hanukkah cards has become a custom to mark the celebration. Popular customs also include giving children presents, particularly, actual (or chocolate) money as gifts.

Greeting Cards: A Better, More Personal Way to Show Your Appreciation

As technology evolves at an increasingly faster rate, things that were once considered cutting-edge quickly become obsolete. For example, more people now stay in touch through e-mail rather than rely on snail mail. Mobile phones are quickly overtaking landlines, although the latter still remains widely used in corporate settings. Modern communication methods have undoubtedly become handier—something that can, strangely enough, be considered both boon and bane.

These days, if you want to greet or thank somebody, all you need to do is send an email or an SMS that reaches the recipient almost instantly. You no longer need to buy postage stamps or wait for days or weeks before your letter gets delivered. In a matter of seconds—depending on the quality of your wireless connection, of course—your greeting finds its way into your recipient’s inbox.

However, while modern technology has enabled speedy communication, it may occasionally feel a tad too impersonal because there is less effort involved. In form, at least, even a well-crafted email or SMS does not provide quite the same personal touch as a beautiful greeting card, particularly one that has been that’s custom made for the recipient. In a business setting, meanwhile, custom hand-signed corporate greeting cards can help enhance relations.

Personalizing Birthday Cards for Loved Ones

There’s nothing more sweet and memorable for a birthday celebrant than to be greeted by a person important to them in a unique way. Well-wishers can use creative ways to make a special impression on the celebrant, which can create lasting memories if done right. One of the ways you can honor someone special on their birthday is to make a personalized birthday greeting card.

On the other hand, how does one create a memorable greeting card? First you need to think of the message you want to put in the card. Avoid the insincere, cookie-cutter messages you see in typical birthday cards—your words have to be genuine and should come straight from the heart. If there’s not enough space in the card for your message, write it on a separate piece of paper and tack it to the card.

You can spice up the birthday card with written and visual elements that are special to the celebrant, such as lyrics from their favorite song or a picture with their friends. Then, place your greeting card in an envelope. If you want to make a birthday celebrant feel loved on their special day, you’ll have to go the extra mile. While you may be planning birthday dinners or surprise parties to make the occasion a special one, don’t forget to start by creating a genuine birthday card to kick off the festivities.

The Many Shapes and Sizes of Greeting Cards

Designing greeting cards has evolved since handmade paper cards were passed around in Europe in the early 1400s. Today, greeting cards can be store bought, handcrafted, or even digitally designed. There are now different kinds of greeting cards for every occasion, designed with the most stimulating use of materials, text, and visual artistry imaginable.

Greeting cards are basically paper cards with printed images and text on them, but some people add more depth to their cards by adding other elements like ribbons, paper cut-outs, ornaments,  even embroidery. These creative elements are employed in different ways, the more popular ones designed to “pop out”.

In the US, up to 90% of households still buy greeting cards, producing up to 7 billion cards a year. This excessive amount poses a threat to the environment since paper is processed from plant fibers (or cellulose) from trees. That’s a lot of timber cut down; furthermore, the materials used for manufacturing and printing them could be toxic. To help reduce the risks, greeting card companies also offer cards made of recycled paper printed with acid free materials, or offer digital software for designing e-greeting cards.

Although greeting cards come in many shapes and sizes (from tiny ones to large gimmicky ones), they still serve the same purpose for many people: to share and express heartfelt sentiments.
